Genoptic Eye Drops contain the antibiotic, gentamicin 0.3% in a 5ml sterile dropper bottle.
Genoptic is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye including blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and eyelash hair follicles. Killing the bacteria that causes the infection helps relieve symptoms of redness, pain, inflammation, and crusty discharge from the eyes.
Gentamicin is a broad spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacteria known to cause eye infections.
Typically, treatment involves instilling one to two drops to the affected eyes every four hours continuing treatment for at least two days after the infection appears to be resolved to prevent recurrence.
