Serevent Accuhaler is a powdered dose form of the bronchodilator medication, salmeterol xinafoate used to treat bronchospasm seen in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Salmeterol is a long-acting bronchodilator that relieves the symptoms of bronchospasm such as a feeling of tightness in the chest, wheezing and shortness of breath.
Serevent Accuhaler has a slower onset of action compared to fast-acting bronchodilators like salbutamol and should not be used to treat acute attacks. The benefit of Serevent is that it provides longer lasting relief, up to twelve hours, from bronchospasm with its associated symptoms.
Serevent Accuhaler may be used as part of an overall management plan for asthma or COPD.
