Mobic tablets contain, meloxicam 7.5mg a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat musculoskeletal pain in chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
Meloxicam works by blocking the action of inflammatory prostaglandins and cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2) which are responsible for the pain, inflammation and swelling seen in arthritic diseases. Meloxicam does not cure arthritis but reduces the inflammation and swelling that causes pain.
The dose taken will be recommended by your doctor and is usually one tablet taken once daily, at the same time each day, immediately after food to protect the stomach from possible side-effects. In some instances, a second tablet in the day may be prescribed if symptoms are severe and need further treatment.
