Tegretol CR contain the anticonvulsant, carbamazepine 200mg in a modified-release, film coated divisible tablet and are used to treat bipolar disorder, epilepsy, and nerve pain.
Tegretol is used to treat various conditions including mild to severe epileptic seizures, facial pain known as trigeminal neuralgia, mania, bipolar disorder, diabetic nerve pain and to control the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
Tegretol is believed to work by down regulating the transmission of messages in the nervous system so that seizures and pain are reduced.
The dosage taken depends on what is being treated and the severity of the symptoms. It may take up to four weeks for full benefits to be experienced.
