Mestinon tablets contain pyridostigmine, a medication used to treat Myasthenia gravis (MG), a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease.
Myasthenia gravis is characterised by muscle weakness and commonly affects muscles in the face and eyes. Eating, chewing, and swallowing may be compromised as well as the ability to speak. The inability to close the mouth may lead to a “hanging jaw”
Mestinon tablets help relieve the symptoms of MG but do not have the ability to cure the condition.
Mestinon tablets 60mg are taken with water at three to four hourly intervals according to the severity of the condition and your doctor’s instructions. Higher doses may be required in severe cases.
