Methylprednisolone is similar to the naturally occurring corticosteroid, cortisol and has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties.
Indications for use of Medrol tablets include hormone replacement therapy due to adrenal insufficiency, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, other joint and tendon inflammation, severe allergies and inflamed dermatological conditions, inflammation in the eye or other parts of the body.
The dose, frequency and duration of treatment depends on what is being treated. Your doctor will provide you with a treatment plan and withdrawal of treatment should be gradual to prevent unpleasant side-effects.
