Salazopyrin EN Tablets contain the active ingredient, sulphasalazine 500mg and anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory medicine. Salazopyrin EN is used to treat inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Unlike plain Salazopyrin tablets, Salazopyrin EN is also used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
Sulphasalazine inhibits the production of inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes in the intestinal wall and is used to treat active inflammatory bowel disease and to maintain long-term remission. Salazopyrin EN helps reduce the symptoms of joint swelling, stiffness, and pain in rheumatoid arthritis.
Salazopyrin EN tablets are usually given to adults in a dosage of two to four tablets four times daily in the active phase of inflammatory bowel disease with the dosage being reduced to a one to two tablets four times daily as maintenance treatment.
