Pro-Banthine contains the active ingredient, propantheline 15mg, an anticholinergic, antispasmodic medicine.
Pro-Banthine is used to treat involuntary muscle spasm in a variety of conditions including gastrointestinal disorders, renal colic, irritable bowel syndrome and involuntary urination. Pro-Banthine is also useful in treating excessive sweating. Pro-Banthine works by blocking the action of the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine.
Irritable bowel syndrome may include such conditions as irritable or spastic colon, various forms of colitis and nervous diarrhoea. Pro-Banthine helps relieves the symptoms of abdominal discomfort, bloating diarrhoea, and constipation. Pro-Banthine may be used to treat painful muscle spasms due to kidney or gall stones. Diverticulitis and pancreatitis may also be treated with Pro-Banthine.
