Cerazette tablets contain desogestrel 0.075mg, a synthetic progestogen used as a birth control “mini-pill”.
Mini-pills contain a progestogen and do not contain any oestrogen hormone. Cerazette works by preventing the egg cell from ripening, providing effective contraceptive protection.
Cerazette is usually prescribed for women that do not tolerate oestrogens or are breastfeeding. Like all oral contraceptives, Cerazette does not provide protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
Cerazette tablets are taken once a day at the same time each day. Missing a tablet means you run the risk of becoming pregnant and will not be protected until you have taken Cerazette for another seven days.
