Cipramil Tablets 20mg are an antidepressant used to treat major depression. Cipramil contains citalopram which is a class of antidepressant known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
Cipramil helps to relieve symptoms and prevent the recurrence of depressive episodes. Like all medicines in the SSRI class, it is believed that by preventing the breakdown of serotonin, depression and mood problems are alleviated.
Cipramil may be prescribed for depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low mood, panic disorder, and social anxiety. Cipramil is used in the treatment of the initial stages of these conditions and as a maintenance treatment. The usual dose is one 20mg tablet per day.
