ERA tablets contain erythromycin 500mg, a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of mild to moderate bacterial infections in the body. Suitable for treating bacterial infections of the throat, middle ear, eye, and skin infections ERA may be used as a treatment for primary syphilis in patients with penicillin allergies.
Erythromycin works by blocking the ability of bacteria to manufacture proteins that are necessary for their survival. Erythromycin is not effective against viruses which have a different method of replication.
The usual dose is one ERA tablet taken with or without food with a glass of water twice daily for a period of 7-14 days depending on what is being treated.
